Jonathan, a physician in the U.S. Navy who had recently returned from Iraq, received his Melonseed the day before he was planning to meet the H-12s on Callibogue Sound by Hilton Head. The wind was blowing 25 knots from the northeast, and the conditions were too rough for Jonathan and his boat. The story of what happened will be in the August issue of Sail magazine. Jonathan and his boat are fine but boththe boat and Jonathan's pride took a bruising that day and he was not able to continue in the rally.
