Dear Participant

This is your form for making your reservations and paying in advance for your participation. Please complete this and mail it to me, with your check made out to Classic Boat Rally promptly but not later than April 4, 2008. We will be using this as our final planning document, and, by paying in advance, you will greatly simplify my administrative chores during the event, and we can all concentrate on just having fun. Please account for everyone in your party, including team mate(s), shore crew, supporting friends and family that you anticipate having at the dining events. In advance, thank you for your participation and your prompt response.

Thursday, April 17: Savannah

Lunch at Savannah Yacht Club, 1:00 PM: This is a build-your-own sandwiches buffet, with soft drinks, at the Dock House near the hoist.

Launch Dinner Party at The Oyster Bar. This will be a casual dinner in the private dining room of this locally owned and managed restaurant at 444 Johnny Mercer Blvd near SYC on Whitmarsh Island (not downtown) phone 912-898-8622. This event is coordinated by Savannah residents and Rally participants Buddy and Judy Sharpton, and we will have live music and a choice of entrees that include (a)shrimp and crab au gratin, baked stuffed flounder, and prime rib. This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow participants. Each skipper will have the opportunity to introduce his or her team and boat. Beer, wine, and other refreshments are also available on your own tab. The base price includes tax and tip for the base meal and music. Come as early as 6 PM for Happy Hour. Dinner is at 7 PM. Friday, April 18: Savannah to Hilton Head

Dinner at South Carolina Yacht Club 7:00. This will be a buffet including broiled grouper, prime rib, salad, a selection of vegetables, with cookies and brownies for dessert, in The Chart Room upstairs in the club house. We get the same price as members who host parties at the club. Price includes tax and tip. Alcoholic beverages are extra. You will be given a temporary membership card upon arrival, on which you can run a tab for yourself and your team and guests. Don’t miss this. We need the names of your shore crews arriving by car in order that they can be allowed through the gate to the private community of Windmill Harbour.

Sunday, April 20: Classic Boat Day

Participate in the race around the buoys at 2:00?____ If yes”, $20.00

Dinner at Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, 6:00 PM. Beer and wine, at no charge, will begin at 5:00. The dinner is a local favorite known alternately as “Lowcountry Shrimp Boil” or “Frogmore Stew”. This includes boiled fresh shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage, potatoes, and other ingredients. For those who prefer chicken to shrimp, there will be the chicken alternative. The all-inclusive price covers tax and tips for the caterer. In addition to the day’s race awards, awards will be given to the winners of the Concurs d’Elegance at this dinner.

Monday, April 21: Beaufort to Edisto Island

Housing: We have prepaid for two vacation houses located on Big Bay Creek near Edisto Marina. This is the only “transient” accommodation available on Edisto Island. Your allocated cost for a room for the two nights (Monday and Tuesday) is $175 per room payable to Classic Boat Rally. As this is as close as any other accommodations to Tuesday’s destination at Bohicket Marina, we will return to Edisto by car Tuesday night for the second night here. Your payment of $175 is for the two nights. In order for us to allocate rooms, we need to know how many rooms, how many people in each room, and an indication regarding which house you would prefer. Your boat can tie up to the private dock in front of your house. Those not staying in these houses can tie up at Edisto Marina Monday night (at a charge by the marina). Dinner at Sunset Grille: You will be on your own at this informal seafood restaurant. The seafood is excellent and the setting is quite beautiful as you can look out the broad plate glass windows in a westerly direction overlooking the marina, the river and marsh and ultimately watch the sun sink slowly over the horizon. Eat early or late. We will do the awards at about 6 PM. Sunset is around 8 PM. As a courtesy to the restaurant we need a headcount:

Tuesday, April 22: Edisto to Bohicket Marina

The day’s race awards will be given at the dock as soon as the RC has calculated the scores. Dinner on your own. Most will probably return to Edisto where there are two other nearby restaurants in addition to the Sunset Grille.

Wednesday, April 23: Bohicket to Charleston

Victory Celebration Dinner at Carolina Yacht Club, 7:45 PM: This will be our concluding banquet, and the setting will be in one of the premier yacht Clubs in the USA. Coat and tie are required. Awards will be given for the day’s race and for the top three finishers for the week. Additional awards will be given to “Most Helpful” and “Most Positive Spirit”. A pre-dinner cocktail, and wine with dinner, are included in the price. Even if you are not participating on the final day, please plan to come to the Victory Celebration.
