Teamates are needed for a day or for the whole adventure
Teamates are needed by some of the boat owners, and you can register here your availability, interest, and level of experience. Boat owner/participants will contact you directly and, after you and the owner are satisfied that you have a match, you make arrangements for meeting, logistics, sharing of expenses (if any), and then advise Woody Norwood so your registration can be adjusted accordingly.

The need for teamates arises from several circumstances:
  • The owner's spouse wants to do "shore crew duty"
  • The owner is new to coastal sailing and needs additional expertise for navigation and co-skippering
  • The owner does not have a regular crew

You will want to sign into the Team Mate Pool if you

  • Want to participate in the rally but do not currently have an appropriate boat
  • Have a proper boat but want to get the experience of participation on someone else's boat before bringing your own
  • You are coming with your spouse but would like to sail on another boat

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Steady, amiable, flexible, tolerant personality with a sense of humor and desire for adventurous sailing. You will be spending the entire day on a small boat in potentially challenging circumstances with someone you probably do not know well. This is supposed to be fun for all and you will be an equal partner in ensuring a good time for yourself and the boat owner.
  • Level of experience needed depends a lot on the experience, capabilities, and preferences of the owner and may range from having been on a sailboat a few times to being a fully qualified skipper and navigator. Most, but not all, owners will want to be relieved from the helm at various times throughout the day. Knowledge of charts or reading a GPS is usually desired but not necessary for all owners.
  • You will need boating shoes (proper non-skid, non-marking sole), sailing gloves, and foul weather garments. You and the owner will work out food logistics, but you will need nourishment and hydration appropriate for a full day of sailing.

To sign up for the Team Mate Pool, contact Woody Norwood at Woody@ClassicBoatRally.com and indicate the dates available and a brief synopsis of your sailing experience and any other information that you think could be relevant to an owner who is looking for a team mate. Woody will try to match you up, with the final decision and arrangement being between you and the owner.

Participants looking for a team mate: Contact Woody as above.
